Biography

Pianist, conductor, and composer, Ruben Micieli won 2nd Prize and a special award for best interpretation of Liszt's Sonata in B Minor at the 9th International F. Liszt Piano Competition Weimar-Bayreuth 2018 and over 40 national and international competitions. In 2021, he received the Best Italian Award at the 66th Maria Canals International Piano Competition in Barcelona.

He has performed in concert halls and theaters across Europe and Asia, including Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Salle Cortôt in Paris, Weimarhalle, Steinway Hall in London, Xiao Ke Theater in Beijing, Recital Hall in Hong Kong, Teatro Municipale in Piacenza, Ruinekerk in Bergen (Netherlands), Auditorium Paganini in Parma, Auditorium Victor Villegas in Murcia, Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, and Sala Solitär in Salzburg, etc. 

He has played with orchestras such as the Staatskapelle Weimar Orchestra, Orchestra Arturo Toscanini of Parma, Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Orquesta Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia, Filarmonica di Bacau, the Orchestra of Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania, and the Master Orchestra.

He has participated in prestigious festivals including the Oeschberghof Classic Piano Festival, Concerts Grand Salon in Zurich, Virtuoso & Belcanto in Lucca, Milano Piano City, Hong Kong Summer Festival, Lerici Music Festival, Concierto del Castillo in Águilas, and Misano Music Festival.

In 2022, he joined the artist roster of the Keyboard Charitable Trust in London. 

He has recorded albums for NAXOS, KNS Classical, A2DV Generation (featuring the complete Chopin Études), and IMD Music. His album Verdi & Bellini – Paraphrases de salon for NAXOS will be released in 2025.

Recently, he completed two tours in China with the project Dancing on Chopin and Opera Fantasies. 

Expanding his expertise, as a conductor, Ruben Micieli has conducted Orchestra Senzaspine of Bologna and Roma Tre Orchestra. He has also founded the David Orchestra with whom he performs regularly. 

 

Some of his upcoming engagements include performing Paderewski’s Piano Concerto in Spain, Grieg’s Piano Concerto in Rome as conductor and soloist, as well as performing both Liszt piano concertos again in Spain. Additionally, in 2025, he will make his debut at the Berlin Philharmonie. 

Ruben Micieli studied with Javorka Misic and refined his skills under Giovanni Cultrera, completing his diploma at just 17 years of age and his second-level degree in Piano in 2019 with highest honors, distinction, and a special mention, along with a future archival recording as a document of excellence at the V. Bellini Conservatory in Catania. He pursued studies in Portugal with Aquiles Delle Vigne at the Aquiles Delle Vigne International Academy of Music, graduating in 2018 with top honors. He continued his advanced studies at the Accademia del Ridotto with Aquiles Delle Vigne and Andrzej Jasiński.

Ruben has further honed his piano technique with internationally acclaimed masters such as Roberta Prosseda, Michel Beroff, Piotr Paleczny, Boris Berman, Till Fellner, Jörg Demus, Joaquin Achucarro, Andrzej JasiÅ„ski, Valery Piassetski, Sergio Perticaroli, Leslie Howard, Yehin Gil, Epifanio Comis, Violetta Egorova, Carmelo Pappalardo, and in composition with masters like Alexander Tchaikovsky and Raffaele Lo Presti.

He is currently continuing his piano studies with Roberto Prosseda and studying conducting with Marco Boni at the Accademia di Imola “Incontri col Maestro” and with Michele Marvulli.
